The Feed Is Not a Studio Visit

"The scroll is not a neutral window onto art but a genre with its own aesthetics, and mistaking it for seeing is quietly rewriting what artists dare to make."

The square crop is a worldview. To confuse the feed with looking is to accept a genre disguised as a window, and to let its appetites edit the studio before the studio has spoken.

Twelve square metres of white drywall and track light cannot hold a painting, let alone a thought. The fair booth is the most efficient sales apparatus of our century and the least honest room in contemporary art.
